Musicians Kayla Guthrie, Dougie Poole and Dreams West were invited to play to guests and friends at an intimate event which I named San Ysidro Fiesta and hosted at my ranch in Texas. The festivities began when the group was picked up in a party bus and transported deep into a landscape populated by cacti and cattle. At the ranch, guests feasted on barbecue and Tex-Mex classics by local lord Royce, cruised the ranch in a massive open air safari vehicle, and swam in one of the rainwater ponds. Performances took place in the covered barn at the ranch’s headquarters. Unfortunately Dougie Poole was unable to perform – having chopped his finger on the party bus.  To kick off the performance night Kayla Guthrie, dressed top-to-toe in fiery red complete with scarlet cowboy hat, stepped into a ring of purple LED lights and serenaded the crowd with her soft vocals, energetic delivery and emotionally-charged lyrics. and The surreal nature of her performance was amplified when bats living in the barn roof began flying around, swooping through the hazy, sonorous atmosphere.  Next Dreams West began his electronic set, starting with lush, ethereal sounds which grew progressively harder. After a dodgy but colorful display of fireworks smuggled from Mexico, Dreams West resumed, this time blasting southern rap and ’90s bangers, switching the night into full blown hoe-down mode.
