André Ethier

Intro by Darby Milbrath

Andre’s paintings are syrupy, sickly coloured renderings of psychedelic, stoner/fantasy art. They’re really ‘off’ in a 70’s thrift store kind of way. They’re twisted, ugly and honest. He uses oils like watercolours and works quickly, finishing a painting in 4-5 hours. It makes his work look like it’s moving. In case you missed Andre’s feature in issue 9, his work will be on display at an upcoming exhibition at Paul Petro Contemporary Art in Toronto, from Jan. 17 to Feb. 15.
