Preview: The Mountains They Will Crumble

Montreal stalwart gamer poet Nick Williams shares with us some scans from his new book,The Mountains They Will Crumble. Self-published by Dingus Publishing, this is a charming collection of slobbishly intimate and observant poems and stories. First there are some poems about playing video games, smoking weed and interacting with other humans, to varying degrees of satisfaction. These poems make you think about being a grimey, horny little pre-teen filled to the point of bursting with observations and intensities of feeling. Following the poems are two short stories, one in particular we love about a boy obsessed by crustaceans. All this accompanied by illustrations by artist Lee McClure. Nick launches The Mountains They Will Crumble tonight in Montreal at La Plante, at which he will read excerpts from the new collection. There will be live performances and a table of merchandise from other local publishers. – Olivia Whittick
