Shoot the Breeze: Igor Termenon

Edinburgh-based photographer Igor Termenon has quite the resume, having been featured in Vice, Asos, Elle UK and Oyster to name a few. Amidst his many accomplishments are his Glasgow portraits for i-D Magazine, his creation of the zine Girls/Boys on Film and his co-founding of the online platform Future Positive. The subjects of his photography vary between portraits of fashionable kids and images of derelict urban landscapes. Though he is originally from Spain, the uniting trait in Igor’s work is the stylish, gritty and undoubtedly British character that shows through his photos. -TC

1. Why do you take photos?
I’ve never been good at writing or keeping my own diary so I guess that photos are a good way of keeping memories.

2. Do you carry your camera with you everywhere you go?
Yes, I always try to carry a compact 35mm camera with me everywhere I go. I take quite a lot of photos with my mobile phone but I hate when I have a good photo opportunity and don’t have a film camera with me.

3. What celebrity would you like to shoot most?
I’d like to shoot model Edie Campbell. I would also like to shoot musician Jenny Lewis.

Probably a sloth.

Food, any type of food.

6. Would you like to live forever?
Only if I can stay young.

7. What do you think is the best photo you have ever taken to date?
It might not be the best, but I really like a photo I took when I lived in Glasgow of some brutalist buildings that have now been demolished. It was one of the first photos I took with a film camera.
